Every photo on this site is a job of ours in Middle Tennessee. Here are three told in a little more detail, then the rest of the pictures.
Franklin
A freestanding roof in the back yard, with the outdoor kitchen under it and a fire pit seating area out in front. Standing seam metal on stained wood posts, open on all four sides so it doesn’t wall off the yard.
From above you can see how it was placed: back from the house, in line with the evergreens, with the fire pit on its own round of patio.
Cedar screen room
A screen room framed in cedar with a white beadboard ceiling, recessed lights, skylights and a ceiling fan. The skylights matter more than they look: a roofed porch on the back of a house can turn the kitchen behind it dark, and these keep the light coming in.
Before and after
The house had a plain wood deck across the back. We built a screen room in its place with a stone fireplace on the end wall, its chimney running up past the roofline, a wood ceiling and new steps down to the lawn.
