Sunrooms

Sunrooms in Nashville, built for all four seasons

Glass on three sides, a roof that ties into yours, and heat and air if you want the room all year. Darryl draws it at your house before you commit to anything.

Inside a two-story sunroom: tall black-framed windows, reclaimed wood walls, a crystal chandelier and a white brick fireplace with a television

What kind of sunroom do you want?

There are two answers, and we build both. An all-season room is a true addition. It sits on a foundation, its walls and roof are insulated, and it gets heat and air, either tied into the system you have or from its own ductless unit. A three- or four-season room keeps out the rain, the wind and the bugs, but it isn’t conditioned the same way, and it costs less because of that.

  1. All-season sunroomGlass walls, an insulated roof, heat and air. Spray foam goes in where the construction calls for it.
  2. Three- or four-season roomOne of our wall systems, for the months you’d sit outside anyway, longer.
  3. Under existingThe walls go in beneath a porch or patio roof you already have.
  4. Two-story glass roomGlass floor to ceiling on two levels, like the room in the photos on this page.

Can you turn the porch I already have into a sunroom?

Yes, and it’s often the shortest road to one. The roof is already there, so we set the wall system beneath it and finish the inside to match the house: the floor, the walls and the ceiling. That’s what we did for Lindsay Young’s family in Brentwood in 2025, twelve years after we built their first sunroom in Franklin.

A two-story glass room from the flagstone steps at dusk.
Whitewashed brick fireplace and a bar wall inside.
Cathedral ceiling and sliding glass on three sides.
A linear fireplace under a dark tongue-and-groove ceiling.

What makes the price go up or down?

We don’t publish a sunroom price. A three-season room under a roof you already have and a two-story glass addition are both sunrooms, and no single number would mean anything for either. These are what move it:

  • The footprint, and whether the room needs its own foundation and roof
  • The glass and the wall system
  • Insulation, and heat and air or a ductless unit
  • A fireplace, and how the room is finished inside

You get a real number from the drawing, after the free consultation at your house.

We chose Mr. Enclosure to design and build our four season room after seeing some of their other projects. Now that our room is done, the quality far exceeds our expectations.

Why have one company design and build it?

So the drawing and the room don’t drift apart. We design, manufacture and install, and the man who drew your sunroom is the one you call while it’s being built. It’s how we’ve worked for more than 60 years, and we’ll put it plainly: “Compare our quality with our competitors, and see why Mr. Enclosure is your best value!”

Already have a covered patio but not sure it should be glass? Look at our screen rooms too. If the room needs to be bigger than the patio, it’s a room addition, and we build those as well.

Sunroom questions

What is the difference between a three-season and a four-season sunroom?

A four-season room is built to be lived in all year: insulated walls and roof, and heat and air. A three-season room keeps the weather out but isn’t conditioned, so it’s at its best from spring through fall. We build both, and you choose at the design consultation.

Can you turn my covered patio into a sunroom?

Yes. We call it building "under existing": the wall system goes in beneath the roof you already have, and the room is finished to your floor, walls and ceiling. Misty Germek’s patio became an interior space she says "looks like it has been here since the house was originally built."

How much does a sunroom cost in Nashville?

It depends on the size, whether it needs a new roof and foundation, the glass, the insulation and whether it gets heat and air or a fireplace. We price from the design, after the free consultation at your house, so the number you get is for the room you actually want.

Can a sunroom be heated and cooled?

Yes. An all-season room can tie into your system or get its own ductless unit, and spray foam insulation goes in where the construction calls for it. Several of our sunrooms also have a fireplace as the room’s heat and its centerpiece.

Do I need a permit for a sunroom in Tennessee?

Yes. A sunroom is an addition to the house, so it is permitted with your city or county codes office and inspected. We draw the plans and pull the permit as part of the job, before anything on the house is opened up.

Is a sunroom addition worth it?

Our customers tend to say so in how they use it. Lindsay Young, who had us build a sunroom in Franklin in 2013 and enclose a porch in Brentwood in 2025, wrote that the new room is "by far the room we use the most."
